New York Comic Con was Metazoo’s Culmination of the Summer

Was MetaZoo the most popular booth?

Upon arriving at the world’s most famous convention, we heard of names like Marvel, One Piece, Dragon Ball, and so many other iconic brands most known throughout the world which would hold a presence at the con. And then there was this strange purple booth with a giant all-seeing eye and odd artwork on the sides of its walls. After the first day, so many became aware of this booth and its tenants. MetaZoo Games!

Throughout the four days of comic con, MetaZoo came strong every day, with each day becoming bigger and bigger with the crowds. Whether it was the all-day free giveaways, meeting some of the artists known for making the art on the cards, or meeting the games creator, Mike Waddell. The lines were an indication of the growing popularity this game was bringing to the con.

ebay live x MetaZoo Games

Also making its debut is the recently announced partnership between MetaZoo and ebay’s new inner platform, ebay live. A platform designed to compete in the interactive shopping environment first seen by the selling app, Whatnot.

MetaZoo used this opportunity to launch its next anticipated product, Tarot cards. These Tarot cards have been designed to work in conjunction with the game’s normal gameplay mechanics and enhance gameplay in a different light. ebay live used this product to launch Metazoo’s first official product on the site, and it sold out within minutes of becoming active.

Sample and Business cards were the big chase

Prior to the start of the con, it was announced the first 3 people in line could ask the creator for his business card. A surprise announcement that caught many off-guard and caused speculation to grow rapidly about the value of such a card in existence. Just how many of these cards are in existence and who would be lucky enough to get their hands on one? This partially led to the early morning rush of con-goers who spent big money on VIP tickets to get in early and obtain these coveted and rare items.

The other chase for most was the sample Tarot cards. Announced first before the con, the first 25 in line would receive one sample card. These were so popular, far more than 25 every day showed up to try and claim their rights to one. What makes this card so special and sought after you ask? These were the first cards designed by Metazoo to test, meaning very few of these exist. How can you tell it’s a sample from the soon-to-be-released ebay live versions? The black border is what signifies this as a “Sample card”. The versions about to be released to the public will have a red border.

MetaZoo left its mark on NYCC

After four days at the world’s biggest convention, Metazoo certainly left behind its mark as a brand and game to compete against the likes of the traditional trading card games and animes like Konami’s YuGiOh!, Dragon Ball, and even One Piece. As I was walking around the convention floor passing out Seance packs, Metazoo’s Fifth installment from the Cryptid Nation block, I was amazed so many were already aware of our beloved TCG.

And of course, I did my part to help spread the word of MetaZoo, by taking the first-ever Seance booster box into Times Square and opening it for the masses on my YouTube channel. Did I mention we gave away every single pack? Well, we did and it was such a success.

And of course in New York City Times Square fashion, it came with a few city characters getting in a few minutes of camera time. But ultimately, the experience was one of amazement and brought Metazoo to one of the world’s most iconic spots.

I couldn’t be happier to be part of this ride created just two short years ago by Mike Waddell, the CEO of MetaZoo Games, and I’m looking to continue to be part of this growing lore of beasties and storyline for years to come. Next up; Salem, Mass as we officially celebrate the release of the next full core set.
